Taylor records 41 saves, Ice Wolves fall to St. John Fisher

SUNY Niagara club hockey returned to its home ice but lost to St. John Fisher, 8-3, in UNYCHL Division II play Saturday at Hyde Park Ice Pavilion in Niagara Falls.

After the Cardinals scored 88 seconds into the contest, sophomore Quinn Walton responded with his second goal of the season to tie the score at 1-1 with 14:32 left in the first period. St. John Fisher then scored two more goals for a 3-1 lead at the end of the first period. 

Josh Wanat scored in the second period for SUNY Niagara to cut the deficit to 5-2 at the 9:50 of the second period. The Cardinals then scored three more goals between the second and third periods before Thunderwolf forward Jake Benton scored the contest's final goal unassisted with 0:20 remaining. 

Jason Cerrillo and Brady Cunningham both recorded an assist on Walton's goal and Benton tallied an assist on Wanat's scoring play.

Sophomore Jaymis Taylor recorded 41 saves in net in the loss for the "Ice Wolves".

SUNY Niagara (1-2) returns to action at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Buffalo State.
