Niagara County Community College went into a hostile environment and came away with a hard-earned 63-54 win over host SUNY Sullivan in the NJCAA Division II East A District Championship on Saturday night. The Thunderwolves, ranked second in the country, improved to 29-1 overall.
NCCC sophomore guard Lamar Lovelace led the team in scoring with 15 points, while classmate LaMarqus Merchant Jr. finished with 12 points, six boards and three assists.
The T-Wolves forced 19 turnovers and despite low shooting splits were able to assist on 17 of their 22 made field goals. NCCC out-scored the Generals, 39-27, after intermission.
N-Trip advances to the NJCAA Division II Championship for the second time in as many years. This year's tournament is set for March 21-25 at Danville Area Community College in Danville, Illinois.
