Sophomore guard Chioke Marshall was named an NJCAA Division II second-team All-American in men’s basketball on April 9. Marshall became the 11th total All-American in SUNY Niagara men’s basketball history since the program began in the 1963-64 season.

A Queens resident, Marshall started in 24 of his 25 appearances this season and helped the Thunderwolves finish with a 17-10 record and advance to the Region III Div. II final four for a 15th time in the Bill Beilein era (since 2009-10). Marshall scored a team-high 24.7 points per game, ranking fourth among all NJCAA Division II players, and played in 32.8 minutes per contest.

Marshall now joins a list of NJCAA All-Americans in SUNY Niagara men’s basketball history. These include Alan Schug (1966), Pat “Trick” Lewis (1974), Berry Right (1979), Sheldon Zablotny-Crosby (2015), Jamal Pollydore (2017), Donel Cathcart (2018), Kailee White (2021), Justin Hendrick (2022), Lamar Lovelace (2023) and Jamyier Patton (2025).

Shooting 45.4% from the field, Marshall finished in double-digit scoring in 23 games this season (51 overall) and shot an NJCAA Division II leading 92.9% from the free-throw line. Marshall also recorded nine of his 14 career games with at least 30 points this season.

Marshall also made single-game history with the Thunderwolves this season. His career-high 50 points in an 110-109 overtime victory at Jamestown Community College on January 28 is believed to be a new single-game record since John Albert Young scored 47 in a contest during the 1963-64 season.

A graduate of Our Savior Lutheran Prep High School in the Bronx, Marshall finished his SUNY Niagara career as the eighth NJCAA All-American in the Beilein era. Previous honorees include Zablotny-Crosby (2014), Pollydore (2017), Donel Cathcart (2018), Kailee White (2021), Justin Hendrick (2022), Lamar Lovelace (2023) and Jamyier Patton (2025).

This season, Marshall was also selected as the NJCAA Region III Div. II player of the year and an all-tournament selection. Marshall is the fifth Thunderwolf to win player of the year in the last six seasons, joining White (2021), Hendrick (2022), Lovelace (2023) and Patton (2025).

Over 57 games, Marshall finished second all-time in career scoring in Thunderwolves history with 1,200 career points, trailing only 1975 graduate and Athletics Wall of Fame inductee George Pendleton, who posted 1,245 career points. 1998 graduate Ricardo Jackson (1,192 points), 2023 graduate Lamar Lovelace (1,131 points) and 1975 graduate Pat “Trick” Lewis round out the new top five.
