Thunderwolves take down North Country CC on pitch in club season opener

After much anticipation, SUNY Niagara men's club soccer began its 2025 season in the win column.

An indirect kick opportunity awarded to the Thunderwolves in the 13th minute resulted in Niko Magaris finding Frank Toyishime for the game-deciding goal in a 1-0 victory over North Country Community College Sunday in Sanborn.

The goal was one of 12 shots on goal — and 15 total — that SUNY Niagara recorded in the win. Magaris and Mark Konye had four shots apiece. Gianfranco Centeno and Toyishime posted three shots each and Remington Albee recorded one shot.

Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper Quinn Walton faced and stopped all 10 of the Saints' shots

The Thunderwolves return to action when they host Hudson Valley Community College at 3 p.m. Sept. 13 in Sanborn.
