NCCC takes a pair from Spartans

Niagara County Community College pounded out 36 hits and scored 37 runs on its way to a Region III road sweep of Cayuga Community College at Falcon Park this past Saturday. The Thunderwolves improved to 6-11 overall and 2-0 in regional play. N-Trip returns to action at Noon Sunday for a twinbill at Corning Community College.

Niagara CCC 20, Cayuga CC 12

Sophomore winning pitcher Lydia Serrano led a potent offense, finishing 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Freshman Mariah Semple clubbed an inside-the-park grand slam and scored three times, classmate Makayla Montes was 5-for-6 with two RBIs and four runs scored and fellow frosh Maggiemay Murrins went 4-for-6 with a pair of doubles, three RBIs and four runs scored. Also for NCCC, freshman Mackenzie Gozdziak finished 4-for-5 and scored twice and fellow first-year player Shelby Wolf chipped in three hits and two RBIs.

Niagara CCC 17, Cayuga CC 9

Montes remained hot, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run, triple, four RBIs and three runs scored. Freshman Morgan Allis busted out in a big way, going 3-for-4 with a triple, double and five RBIs. Also for N-Trip, Murrins went 1-for-1 with three RBIs and Serrano was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
