Niagara County Community College won a pair of hotly-contested Region III games against visiting rival Erie Community College on Thursday afternoon. The Thunderwolves, who host Jefferson Community College for a twinbill at 2 p.m. Friday, improved to 10-11 overall and 6-0 in regional play.
Niagara CCC 9, Erie CC 3
NCCC sophomore pitcher Lydia Serrano tossed a complete game with eight Ks. Serrano and freshman Sydney Sexton each had three RBIs, while freshman Makayla Montes was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, freshman Maggiemay Murrins finished 3-for-3 and scored twice and classmate Mariah Semple went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Serrano clubbed a go-ahead home run in the fifth inning and drove in four runs for the T-Wolves. In the circle, the right-hander allowed just two runs and struck out seven in 5.2 innings of work. Montes went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored, Murrins ripped two doubles and drove in a pair of runs and freshman Mackenzie Gozdziak finished 2-for-2 with three runs scored.
