NCCC wins twice on weekend trip

Niagara County Community College finished 2-4 during its six-game swing through Maryland and West Virginia this past weekend. The NJCAA Div. III Thunderwolves, who have yet to play a Div. III opponent, are now 4-11 overall. Next up is their Region III opener set for Noon at Cayuga Community College.

Niagara CCC 10, Allegany College of Maryland 9

Sophomore winning pitcher Lydia Serrano struck out eight in the circle and was 3-for-4 with three RBIs at the plate. Freshman Mariah Semple was 2-for-3 with four RBIs, classmate Maggiemay Murrins had two hits - including a home run, two RBIs and scored twice and fellow frosh Mackenzie Gozdziak was 3-for-3 with two runs scored.

Allegany College of Maryland 13, Niagara CCC 8

Freshman Makayla Montes went 3-for-3 with a grand slam, two doubles and seven RBIs. Murrins was 2-for-3 with another home run and Gozdziak added a double, a triple and three runs scored.

WVU Potomac State College 8, Niagara CCC 0

Freshmen Shelby Wolf and Sydney Sexton had the lone NCCC hits.

Gozdziak was 2-for-3, Wolf doubled and Montes scored the only run.

Anne Arundel CC 10, Niagara CCC 2

Serrano went 2-for-3 and Semple had an RBI.

Murrins ripped another long ball and was the winning pitcher as she allowed just three earned runs in a complete-game effort. Montes was 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, Semple had two hits, two runs and two stolen bases and Wolf went 2-for-3 with a double.
