Murrins tosses no-hitter; NCCC hits 8 HRs

Niagara County Community College clubbed eight home runs and had a no-hitter as it swept host Tompkins-Cortland Community College in Region III play on Sunday. The Thunderwolves are now 15-12 overall and 11-1 in regional play.

Niagara CCC 18, Tompkins-Cortland CC 1 (5 inn.)

Freshman Makayla Montes was 4-for-4 with two home runs, five RBIs and three runs scored in the win. Fellow frosh Shelby Wolf was 1-for-2 with a home run, five RBIs and three runs scored and classmate Julia Faery finished 3-for-3 with a homer, four RBIs and three runs scored. Sophomore Lydia Serrano allowed just two hits and no earned runs over five innings. The righty added eight Ks.

Niagara CCC 15, Tompkins-Cortland CC 0 (5 inn.)

Freshman Maggiemay Murrins tossed a five-inning no-hitter with nine strikeouts. Wolf ripped two home runs and had three RBIs, while Serrano went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs. Also for N-Trip, freshman Mackenzie Gozdziak was 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs and three runs scored.
