Thunderwolves win twice at Cougar Classic

Niagara County Community College, ranked No. 17 in the latest NJCAA Div. II National Poll, extended its win streak to 12 games with a pair of victories at this past weekend's Cougar Classic hosted by Genesee CC. The Thunderwolves are now 15-1 overall.

Niagara CCC 78, CCRI 70

Tournament MVP Albanellys Perez had 19 points and 20 rebounds in the win. All-Tournament selection Alliyah Gillespie added 12 points, six rebounds and four steals. Off the bench, freshman Peyton Butts had 10 points and five steals and classmate Jenna Faulkner added three 3-pointers.

Niagara CCC 80, Durham (Ont.) College 62

Perez, a sophomore forward, again led the way with 22 points and 11 boards. Gillespie, a freshman guard, added 13 points and four boards, while Faulkner finished with 11 points and Butts chipped in with 10 points, six rebounds and four steals. NCCC out-scored the Lords 29-11 in the final quarter.

Next up for NCCC is a trip to the Henry Ford College Hawks Classic. The T-Wolves will take on Macomb CC at 6 p.m. Friday in the opening round.
