Niagara County Community College built a 24-7 lead after the opening 10 minutes and never looked back on its way to an 87-53 Western New York Athletic Conference victory over rival Erie CC on Thursday night. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 12 in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, improved to 24-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
Sophomore forward Albanellys Perez led the offensive attack with 28 points (9-of-14 shooting) and 12 rebounds. Freshman guard Alliyah Gillespie netted 14 points in just 18 minutes of action, while classmate Taliyah Hopkins finished with 12 points, four rebounds and four assists. First-year guard Peyton Butts recorded 10 of the team's 24 assists.
Next up for the T-Wolves is a trip to Mercyhurst North East. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
