Niagara County Community College began Western New York Athletic Conference play with a resounding 103-61 win over visiting Genesee CC on Thursday night. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 13 in the latest NJCAA Div. II National Poll, are now 20-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Freshman wing Taliyah Hopkins had 20 points and five rebounds to lead a balanced NCCC attack, which saw eight players net at least seven points.
Freshman guard Alliyah Gillespie added 16 points, five steals and four assists, sophomore guard Ana Valerie Odom had 14 points, sophomore guard Ericka Thompson recorded 12 points and four assists and freshman guard Courtney Kaczor chipped in with 12 points on 4-of-4 shooting.
Also for NCCC, sophomore center Tamia Jones had nine points, eight rebounds and three blocks and sophomore forward Albanellys Perez grabbed 16 rebounds.
Next up for the T-Wolves is a home date with Mercyhurst North East at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
