Thunderwolves win Hawks Classic

Niagara County Community College, ranked No. 15 in the latest NJCAA Div. II National Poll, won a pair of nail-biters at the Hawks Classic hosted by Henry Ford CC this past weekend. The Thunderwolves, who are now off until 5:30 p.m. Jan. 6 when they visit Schenectady CC, are 17-1 on the year.

Niagara CCC 64, Macomb CC 61 (OT)

Freshman Jenna Faulkner nailed a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to send the contest into overtime. Classmate Peyton Butts preserved the come-from-behind victory when she blocked a potential game-tying 3-point attempt at the end of OT. Freshman Taliyah Hopkins finished with 19 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Albanellys Perez had 15 points and 22 rebounds.

Niagara CCC 57, Muskegon CC 55

Perez' putback at the buzzer sent the Thunderwolves to the semester break with a championship. The power forward finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds on her way to MVP honors. Hopkins, an all-tournament selection, added 13 points and seven boards. Freshman Alliyah Gillespie netted 15 points with four assists.
