Tournament MVP Albanellys Perez led Niagara County Community College to a pair of wins and the championship at this past weekend's inaugural Thunderwolves Classic. Next up for NCCC (11-1) is a non-conference game at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at Lakeland CC.
Niagara CCC 98, Henry Ford College 67
Perez had a game-high 22 points and 14 rebounds in the win. The sophomore forward finished 11-of-13 from the field. Freshman guard Alliyah Gillespie had 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while classmate Peyton Butts netted 15 points off the bench. NCCC assisted on 30 of its 41 baskets with six players notching at least four assists.
Niagara CCC 76, Villa Maria College 56
Perez was 7-of-10 from the field on her way to 16 points and 15 boards. Freshman wing Taliyah Hopkins added 18 points (8-of-11 shooting) and eight rebounds, while Gillespie finished with 15 points and five assists. Gillespie was named to the All-Tournament team. NCCC held a 66-42 edge in rebounding.
