NCCC splits at SUNY Cortland Duals

Niagara County Community College split a pair of dual meets against NCAA Division III competition at Sunday's SUNY Cortland Duals. The Thunderwolves clipped RIT 28-27 and fell to the host Red Dragons 51-0. NCCC, ranked No. 10 in the latest NJCAA poll, is now 9-3 in dual-meet competition this season.

Freshman Alex Kelly won the decisive match against RIT, picking up a 19-10 major decision with a last-second reversal. On Monday, the 174-pounder was named Northeast District I Wrestler of the Week for his efforts.

Sophomore Zach Colgan earned a pin at 157 pounds, while Anthony Liberatore (184), Griffin Kent (197) and Marshall Taylor (285) won via forfeit. Liberatore and Taylor each won an exhibition match against wrestlers from SUNY Cortland.

Next up for the T-Wolves is a home meet with Region III rival Mercyhurst North East, which is currently ranked No. 17. The match is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday.
