Walz finishes first at JCC Open

Niagara County Community College sophomore C.J. Walz continued his dominance at 133 pounds, winning the annual Jamestown Community College Open this past Sunday. Walz went 4-0 at the tournament, including wins via pin fall, technical fall and major decision. He scored an 18-10 win over Nick Oosterkamp of Mercyhurst North East in the finals.

NCCC also had four second-place finishers: freshman Greg Quinn (125, 3-1), sophomore Freddy Eckles (149, 3-1), freshman Katrell Jackson (149, 2-1) and freshman Anthony Bell (165, 2-1). Sophomore Michael Phelps was 5th at 157 pounds. 

Next up for the Thunderwolves is a dual meet with Mercyhurst University. Action is slated to get underway at approximately 7 p.m. Friday on the Mercyhurst North East campus.
