Sophomore Freddy Eckles continued his strong start to the season, finishing 5-1 and taking second place at 141 pounds at this past weekend's Thunderwolves Open. Eckles earned two technical-fall victories and a pin as he improved to 19-2 on the season. His only two defeats have come at the hands of NCAA Div. I opponents.
Freshman Greg Quinn won twice via pinfall at 125 pounds en route to a second-place finish. He is 11-6 on the year and has been runner-up at both Open events thus far.
Other place finishers for NCCC included: sophomore C.J. Walz (133, 5th, two technical falls), freshman Katrell Jackson (149, 3rd, two pins), sophomore Michael Phelps (157, 5th) and sophomore Sergio Crespo (184, 4th, three technical falls).
Next up for NCCC is the SUNY Cortland Open, which is slated for 9 a.m. Saturday.
