T-Wolves go down swinging at OCC Pod

SUNY Niagara dropped a pair of highly-competitive Region III pod matches to local rival Erie Community College and host Onondaga Community College this past Saturday. The Thunderwolves fell to 2-9 overall and 1-7 in regional matches. The Wolfpack returns to the court at 6 p.m. Tuesday for a non-conference tilt at Genesee Community College.

Erie CC 3, SUNY Niagara 0

Despite a back-and-forth opening set the T-Wolves could not quite get over the hump, losing 29-27, 25-9 and 25-16. Freshman Cait Cliffe had six kills and six digs, classmate Ava Gaudy notched 14 assists and four digs, freshman Paige Van Every put down three kills and fellow frosh Lydia Tetrault added five digs.

Onondaga CC 3, SUNY Niagara 1

Cliffe had a career-high 16 kills, 13 digs and three service aces, but it wasn't quite enough as SUNY Niagara fell in four sets - 25-17, 24-26, 25-20 and 26-24. Gaudy had an impressive 38 assists and five kills, freshman Myelle Bronaugh and Van Every finished with six kills and three blocks each, sophomore Juliana Levesque added four kills, 11 digs and three aces and Tetrault chipped in 12 digs.
