T'Wolves take down Mohawk Valley in final region pod of season
SUNY Niagara concluded its regular season with a victory over Mohawk Valley in four sets, 25-22, 25-21, 21-25, 25-18, during a NJCAA Region III pod Sunday at Erie Community College in Buffalo. This marked the seventh and final regional pod on the Thunderwolves' schedule this season.
Cait Cliffe recorded a third consecutive double-double with team-highs of 16 kills and 10 digs plus five assists. Ava Gaudy recorded 44 of the Thunderwolves' 52 assists.
Alexis Majka had eight kills, four digs and one block. Sariah Tindal had seven kills and four digs. Ava Roberts added four kills and five digs. Nevaeh Hall had six kills and three digs.
Jordan Smith had three digs and Samantha Knobloch added one. SUNY Niagara had nine serving aces and Roberts, Knobloch and Gaudy contributed two each.

Including 16 against Mohawk Valley, Cliffe now has 15 contests with double-digit kills this season and 22 times in her career. Dating back to a 16-kill outing vesus SUNY Broome on Oct. 12, 2024, Cliffe has now posted double-digit kills in 19 of her last 25 matches. Named the NJCAA Region III Player of the Week on Sept. 30, Cliffe also recorded a third consecutive match with double-digit digs, one shy of her longest streak, which she recorded Sept. 12-21, 2024. Cliffe is the team leader in kills (254) and digs (138) and has 575 kills and 418 digs in 39 matches.
With 44 against Mohawk Valley, Gaudy has recorded double-digit assists in 10 consecutive matches, extending the longest streak in her SUNY Niagara career. Gaudy also recorded her second career match with at least 40 assists, with the career-high of 45 against Onondaga on Oct. 11. The NJCAA Region III Player of the Week on Sept. 23, Gaudy now has 899 assists in 39 career matches, now the most by a Thunderwolf in the last 10 seasons (since 2016).
After recording her 50th career block against Corning on Oct. 11, Majka tied her career-high of four digs in the win against Mohawk Valley. The eight kills were also her highest output since she posted nine against Erie CC on Sept. 27. Majak now has 121 kills (81 this season), 25 digs (19 this season) and 51 career blocks (team-high 32 this season) in 39 career matches.
SUNY Niagara (6-13) continues its season when it hosts Monroe in the WNYAC semifinals Saturday in Sanborn. The start time will be announced at a future date.
