Niagara County Community College took two games from NJCAA Division II opponent Monroe Community College on Thursday afternoon. The nationally-ranked T-Wolves, winners of eight straight games, improved to 25-7 overall.
Niagara CCC 6, Monroe CC 2
Freshman Troy Leibert went the distance on the hill as NCCC scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to win it. Leibert allowed just one earned run and struck out eight. Freshman catcher Matthew Ferris hit a two-run double, freshman Alex Minnehan went 1-for-1 with two runs scored and classmate Lance Baldensperger ripped a pinch-hit, two-run single.
Niagara CCC 12, Monroe CC 4
Ferris was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored as the N-Trip offense stayed hot. Minnehan added two hits and two RBIs and freshman Carter Arbuthnot finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Freshman Andrew Bench threw four scoreless innings of relief to get his first win of the season on the bump.
