SUNY Niagara has season end at regionals

Following a long day of baseball, SUNY Niagara saw its season come to a close at the double-elimination Region III Championships on Friday evening at Falcon Park in Auburn. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 5 in the last NJCAA Div. III poll of the season, had lost their opener to Genesee Community College on Thursday afternoon. SUNY Niagara finished the year with a 48-11 overall record. 

SUNY Niagara 10, Erie CC 6

Sophomore Andrew Johnson improved to 8-1 on the year after the righty tossed six solid innings against the rival Kats. Classmate Nicholas Schulz was 4-for-5 with two doubles, four RBIs and two runs scored to lead the offense. Sophomore Brett Johnson and freshman Keygan Miksa were each 3-for-5, while freshmen Nigel Sebastianelli and Weston Thompson added two RBIs apiece.

Herkimer College 5, SUNY Niagara 2

The T-Wolves left 12 runners on base in an elimination loss to the eventual champion Generals. Freshman Adrian Salas went 3-for-3 with a double, sophomore Owen Silliman finished 3-for-4 and classmate Nicholas Schulz added two hits and an RBI. The relief duo of freshman Mark Holm and sophomore Zachary Fike did not allow an earned run and struck out seven batters.
