SUNY Niagara rolls past Jayhawks

SUNY Niagara remained unbeaten with a sweep of Region III rival Jamestown Community College on Sunday afternoon at Sal Maglie Stadium. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 3 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll, improved to 28-0 overall and 10-0 in regional play. SUNY Niagara is next in action at 2 p.m. Tuesday with a road trip to Finger Lakes CC. 

SUNY Niagara 15, Jamestown CC 0 (5 inn.)

Sophomore Eric Woodley improved to 4-0 on the year as he struck out eight batters in four innings of work. Sophomore Christopher Finocchario was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored to pace the offense. Classmate Gavyn Boyle had a double, two RBIs, three runs scored and three stolen bases. Meanwhile, freshman Mike Schaefer finished 2-for-3 with an RBI double and sophomore Braden Dyck chipped in with a run-scoring double of his own.

SUNY Niagara 12, Jamestown CC 2 (6 inn.)

Sophomore Sean Duffy fanned eight batters over six innings to move to 3-0 on the season. Sophomore Adrian Salas was 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored, while second-year standout Nigel Sebastianelli went 2-for-3 with an RBI, two runs scored and four stolen bases. Sophomore Michael Cole finished 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, Boyle was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and sophomore Keygan Miksa added two hits and two runs scored.
