Niagara County Community College cut a 12-point deficit to just two with 16 seconds remaining before eventually falling to host Genesee Community College, 78-72, in Western New York Athletic Conference action Thursday night. The Thunderwolves fall to 12-9 overall and 2-4 in WNYAC play.
Sophomore forward Francisco Williams led the offensive attack with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman wing Justin Alleyne-Washington had 16 points and five boards, while second-year point guard Corey Mendez added 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
NCCC was 3-of-15 from 3-point range in the loss. Next up is a trip to Jamestown-Olean. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday.
